Founded in 1857, Upper Iowa University is a private, not-for-profit university that provides educational excellence to students both at the residential campus and world-wide. The Fayette Campus Facilities Management and Services Department has two full-time positions opening in the Housekeeping Department. Both positions are 1st shift positions scheduled during the academic year from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday thru Friday.

Custodians are responsible for sweeping floors, washing windows, cleaning bathrooms, taking out trash, buffing and waxing of non-carpeted floor areas, set-up/tear down of campus activities, and assisting where needed on campus. Qualifications include: experience in related fields, being self-motivated, ability to relate well to students, faculty and staff, maintaining a clean, safe, and healthy environment in a professional manner.

Assistant/Associate Professor of History (posted 11-11-09)

Upper Iowa University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position on the residential campus in the Division of Liberal Arts beginning August 2010. Rank and salary will be determined by qualifications of the successful candidate. An earned Ph.D. in History is required for appointment.

Applicants’ areas of specialization are less important than the demonstrated ability to teach 24 credit hours per year from the following list of classes: World Civilization I & II, American Civilization I & II, African American History, U.S. Women’s History, Modern World History, Colonial and Revolutionary America, New Nation to Civil War, Reconstruction to World War I, Recent America (1919-) and American Economic History.

Additionally, the position requires success in teaching students from culturally diverse backgrounds and experience in the use of information technology in an educational environment. Excellence in teaching, advising and mentoring, and involvement in university life is expected. Continued professional development, participation in academic governance, and professional, university, division and community service are all factored into tenure decisions. Full-time faculty positions are contracted for the academic year.

Assistant or Associate Professor of Sociology & Criminology (posted11-2-09)

Responsibilities include advising, service on university committees, and teaching 8 courses per year in a 2-2-2-2, eight-week term system. The ideal candidate will be able to teach a wide range of courses across the sociology curriculum including principles of sociology, research methods, and courses in the criminology and criminal justice areas. Assistant to the Athletic Director (posted 10-30-09)

Upper Iowa University invites applications for the position of Assistant to the Athletic Director. This position serves as a member of the department of athletics senior staff and administrative management team assisting the Director of Athletics on a wide variety of activities, assignments, and responsibilities. Duties and responsibilities include coordination and oversight of game and special event management. Manage facilities and grounds under the control of the department of athletics and services as liaison to Facilities Management Services. Assist the Director of Athletics in the day-to-day operation and management of the office and department. Prepare reports, meeting agendas and minutes, etc. Assist in the preparation and dissemination of information and communications. Assist in the execution of the department strategic plan and other initiatives. EXPERIENCE: Minimum of three (3) years professional experience in administration and management preferably within the sports industry. Must possess excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. Must be highly motivated, an energetic self-starter, have sound judgment and decision-making ability along with attention to detail.

E-Communications Coordinator/Director (posted 10-21-09)

Upper Iowa University seeks applications for the position of E-Communications Coordinator / Director to develop, maintain and enhance online communication and marketing efforts. The successful candidate will plan and manage electronic communications strategies and projects utilizing blogs, text messaging, and various social media while blending a background in graphic arts and media design with web technologies to support a strategically focused website.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Individual must be a self-starter, able to organize and complete several projects concurrently.

• Working knowledge of communication in a web-based information environment and of standards for web-based communication

• Strong skills in primary web, photo, and design software essential

• Writing proficiency needed.

• Knowledge of CSS, HTML, and XHTML

• Must be oriented to delivering excellent customer service.

• Must be able to work as a team with marketing and communications Staff.

• Bachelor’s degree and 2-3-years of experience required, Masters preferred.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
