What is EDU 555?
Launching Daily 5® and CAFE® is a 3 credit, online graduate level course. It is the only course approved by The 2 Sisters, Gail Boushey and Joan Moser (authors of the books). This course is an online course that will last eight weeks. It is aimed at providing students with a foundational understanding of both Daily 5® and CAFE®. Emphasis will be placed on Daily 5® and CAFE® research-based practices in literacy instruction along with materials, methods, and skills used to teach students reading in grades K-8. Components examined include: classroom design, brain research, motivation in teaching and learning, developing independence, organizing student data, brief and detailed focused lessons, differentiation in the literacy classroom, moving from assessment to instruction, and monitoring student progress. Upon completion, practitioners will have the knowledge to successfully implement both Daily 5® and CAFE® in their own classrooms.
