The art program at Upper Iowa University challenges students to develop a personal approach to the arts while they strengthen their artistic skills and explore career opportunities. Creativity and independence are cornerstones of a program where faculty members actively lead, motivate and support students to be goal driven in their education, artistic pursuits and careers. Students will gain a solid foundation in studio classes and a global perspective in the visual arts through art history courses. The department of art faculty are all practicing professional artists that are engaged in not only the teaching of the visual arts but pursue and active role in the visual arts community. The art department is located in Edgar Hall, which has excellent state of the art facilities to create and learn in the field of fine arts.
