The 2009 schedule of the Institute for Experiential Learning (IEXL) through the Upper Iowa University Center for Distance Education will be released soon. These courses will be offered on our main campus located in scenic Fayette, Iowa. Learners will have the opportunity to work with faculty who bring both academic and practical experience to the classroom while networking with other learners from all over the world. Tuition
Register Today! Students do not have to be enrolled in the Independent Study Program to attend for credit. To see how classes will fit into your degree plan, contact the Center for Distance Education office or your center advisor. All courses will require some preparatory work prior to your arrival on campus and some may require a final assignment following the week on campus.

Transportation: Students flying in for IEXL should make arrangements for a round-trip flight to Cedar Rapids. Arrangements for transportation from Cedar Rapids to Fayette can be made through the Eastern Iowa Airport shuttle service at 1-800-725-8460. If you plan to use this service please inquire at the time of registration to see if other passengers will be traveling to Fayette. The cost is reduced significantly for each additional passenger. Rental car services are also available at the airport. Fayette is a small rural community. The UIU campus, community restaurants, grocery and drug stores are within a few blocks walking distance.

Hotel Accommodations: We have reserved a block of rooms at the AmericInn, located on the west edge of Fayette. The AmericInn features an indoor pool, hot tub and dry sauna, game room, guest laundry and continental breakfast. Smoking or non-smoking rooms are available. The hotel is within walking distance of the University. The block of rooms are reserved under "UIU Center for Distance Education" at a reduced rate of $65.00 per night with Friday and Saturday rates at $69.90 per night. You may make reservations by calling 1-563-425-0214 (must use this number for the discount). The block of rooms at the special rate will be available until June 1, 2009.
On-campus housing: Rooms are available in our Lee Tower residence hall located on the Fayette campus. The single rate is $130 per week or double rate (if available) is $90.00 per week. Room will need to be reserved four weeks prior to classes. Students will need to bring bedding, pillow and/or sleeping bag, toiletries, and personal items. The rooms are designed in a suite style setting, with a full kitchen and shared living room. Contact the Center for Distance Education office to reserve a UIU residence hall room or to receive additional housing options not mentioned here.
