Through the generous donations of Academic Extension alumni and UIU employees, 18 undergraduate and 3 graduate scholarships will be awarded to Academic Extension students. This includes students at our center locations and Center for Distance Education. 

AWARD CRITERIA:

• Scholarships will be awarded to students earning the highest points based on:
  • Current GPA at UIU
  • Number of semester credits completed at UIU
  • Submission of a one-page, typed essay written on the topic: "How Upper Iowa University has helped me reach my personal goals"
  • Students graduating prior to Term 4 (March, 2010) need not apply.

APPLICATION DEADLINE:

Applications must be received by 5:00 p.m., January 22, 2010 for consideration. Late applications will not be considered.

EVALUATION OF APPLICATION & ESSAY:

The essay will be evaluated by two members of the Academic Extension Scholarship Committee on the basis of clarity, originality, grammar and punctuation.

AWARD DATE:

• Scholarships will be awarded on February 19, 2010.
• Funds reflected in the vouchers will be credited to the student's account at Upper Iowa University.
• Funds will be available for use in any one of the following terms: Term 4, Term 5, Term 6 or Term 1.
• The scholarship can be awarded only once per student.
• The scholarship is not transferable.
• The scholarship is considered a factor when determining financial aid eligibility.
