There has been an increase nationally in the use of "Date Rape Drugs". These drugs, such as GHB (Gamma hydroxybutyrate ) are most commonly slipped into someone's drink without that person's knowledge. The drug can knock a person out, leaving her powerless to resist a sexual assault and with no memory or only a vague memory of what happened.
We have seen situations where it appears that a date rape drug may have been used. In order to help protect yourself from having your drink spiked use the following precautions:
If you know of someone "spiking" another person's drink with a drug, please report this immediately. Employing an intoxicant or administering a drug to someone without their knowledge in an attempt to have sex with them is a felony crime. In addition, the combination of alcohol and a date rape drug can lead to death from overdose.
