Pete the Peacock with kids

Upper Iowa University has established the UIU Legacy Program as a means of acquainting future generations with our university and developing life-long relationships with future alumni. The Legacy Program encourages children of alumni to consider attending UIU and also to think of Upper Iowa as “their school”, and not just “Mom and Dad’s school”.

In the past, the term “legacy” has typically been applied to second and third generation fraternity and sorority members. However, Upper Iowa would like to extend that distinction to all children and grandchildren of alumni. You are a “legacy” if one or both of your parents, grandparents, or a close relative graduated from Upper Iowa University.

The UIU Legacy Program involves periodic university mailings and gifts as a way of staying in touch with alumni and their children. This is a great opportunity for children of alumni to build a relationship with UIU, during their college search and the years leading to that time. Upper Iowa would like alumni and legacies to view this as a life-long relationship, and not just a college decision. UIU Legacy Program enrollment is available to any children or grandchildren of alumni from birth to 18 years of age. It is simply a great way for UIU to stay in contact with alumni and their children and to continue to develop a relationship that may lead to second and third generation UIU alumni.

UIU would like to have the Legacy Program continue to grow and include specific events and visitation days for potential students who are legacies. As enrollment in the program increases, we hope to see these opportunities increase as well. Upper Iowa encourages alumni to enroll their children and grandchildren in the UIU Legacy Program and allow the university to communicate periodically with mailings and age appropriate gifts.

Legacy birthdates and information will be valuable information in the future during the admissions process. Please take this opportunity to enroll your child online and allow them to begin their membership in the Upper Iowa University Legacy Program (you may also download a form and return it to us).
