» UIU announces 2008 Alpha Chi honor society inductees

FAYETTE, Iowa (May 2, 2008) - Twenty-one students were inducted into the Upper Iowa University (UIU) chapter of Alpha Chi National College Honor Society on Wed., April 30. An official ceremony was held in the Upper Iowa Rooms of Garbee Hall on the Fayette campus. Front Row (l to r): Holly A.           Eligible students must be nominated by faculty to become members of Alpha Chi, based on the criteria that they are juniors, seniors, or graduate students ranked academically in the top 10% of their respective class and attend the Fayette campus.

          "This is the third year of Upper Iowa's Alpha Chi organization, honoring students that have worked hard to achieve a high level of academic achievement," said Victor Clark, associate professor of marketing and Alpha Chi sponsor. "This is the first year we are inducting graduate students and are pleased to have a large number of qualified candidates to add to our roster."

          Undergraduate inductees into the 2008 UIU Chapter 381 Alpha Chi include Logan Barnes, Anamosa; Israel J. Bartlein, Postville; Tamara Joleen Dion, Monona; Jeff Gard, Dubuque; Mara Holtkamp, Dubuque; Judy A. Lechtenberg, Ft. Atkinson; Marshall Louis Lenth, Luana; Bradley Mey, Kiel, Wisc.; Patrick Moellers, Jr., Westgate; Tabitha J. Osmundson, Maynard; Bridget Pforts, Libertyville; April Marie Quandahl, Ossian; Nicole Riha, Ft. Atkinson; Erik K. Sorenson, Bettendorf; Dawn M. Woodson, Oelwein.

          Graduate inductees include Billie J. Cowley, Fayette; Candice Divoky, Solon; Melanie Gast, Edgewood; Kathleen D. Guyer, West Union; Jessica White, West Union; Holly A. Wille, Elkader.

          Alpha Chi is a coeducational academic honor society. Since 1922, its purpose has been to promote academic excellence and exemplary character among college and university students and to honor those who receive such distinction. Alpha Chi has some 300 chapters nationwide, including Puerto Rico, and inducts more than 11,000 members annually.
