» New inductees into Fayette chapter of Alpha Chi

FAYETTE, Iowa (May 11, 2009) - Eleven students were inducted into the Upper Iowa University chapter of Alpha Chi National College Honor Society on Wed., April 29.  An official ceremony was held in the Upper Iowa Rooms of Garbee Hall on the Fayette campus.

Burgin, Monte Graff, Kimberly Rud, and Robert S. McMurray.          Eligible students must be nominated by faculty to become members of Alpha Chi, based on the criteria that they are juniors, seniors, or graduate students ranked academically in the top 10% of their respective class and attend the Fayette campus.

          "This is the fourth year of Upper Iowa's Alpha Chi [Fayette campus] organization, honoring students that have worked hard to achieve a high level of academic achievement," said Victor Clark, associate professor of marketing and Alpha Chi sponsor.

          Undergraduate inductees into the 2009 UIU Chapter 381 Alpha Chi include Breina R. Burgin, Lamont; Monte Graff, Oelwein; Megan M. Mueterthies, Lawler; Kimberly Rud, Pine Island, MN; Amy Boehmer, Riverside; Sara Corpstein, Spring Grove, MN; Robert S. McMurray, Fayette; and Amanda G. Reiling, Clermont.

          Graduate inductees include Barbara J. Barclay, Arlington; Jennifer Thompson, Fayette; and Latisha L. Smith, Hudson.

          Alpha Chi is a coeducational academic honor society. Since 1922, its purpose has been to promote academic excellence and exemplary character among college and university students and to honor those who receive such distinction. Alpha Chi has some 300 chapters nationwide, including Puerto Rico, and inducts more than 11,000 members annually.
