International Programs
Upper Iowa University stretches around the globe through affiliations with other universities and programs at centers locations in Hong Kong and Malaysia. UIU also offers scholarships to international students interested in studying in the United States as well as assisting with U.S. students wanting to gain an international experience.
Assistance for international students who want to study on a U.S. campus
The Office of International Programs (OIP) works closely with international students who wish to enroll at Upper Iowa University in the United States, mainly at UIU’s Fayette, Iowa, campus. We will initially assist international students with the admissions process, immigration documents, VISA process, and course registration. In addition the office provides services and orientation to international students upon arrival on campus including academic advising, immigration advising, activities and programs to promote cultural learning and to make connections with the local community. Help for international students who want to learn English as a Second Language
Upper Iowa University offers an ESL program designed to strengthen English language skills (reading, writing, grammar, listening/speaking and American culture) to prepare English language learners for the undergraduate program at UIU. The ESL program is offered on the UIU campus in Fayette. In addition there is a language program in conjunction with Intercultural Communications College in Honolulu, HI, and the ELS Language Center at the University of Saint Thomas, St. Paul, MN. Programs for international students who want to complete a U.S. degree program at home
Upper Iowa University operates several educational centers in Asia, some in partnership with local universities, to offer accredited high quality U.S. academic programs. Currently, UIU is present in Hong Kong and Malaysia.
Programs for U.S. students who want experience studying abroad
UIU students can take advantage of a wide variety of study-abroad programs through the University’s partnerships with American Institute for Foreign Study (AIFS), Amerispan, AustraLearn, CEA Global Education Solutions or International Studies Abroad (ISA). Students also can participate in service learning trips, short-term faculty lead trips and choose to take classes at a UIU international education center location.
