International Friendship Program
International Friendship Program (IFP) is a service opportunity supported by the Upper Iowa University's Office of International Programs. IFP is designed to link local community members with one or more of Upper Iowa's international students. The goal of this program is to help students adjust to their new environment by learning through interaction with caring individuals and/or families.
Our hope is through this program a bond will develop between international students and
the Northeast Iowa community; creating goodwill ambassadors, future friends and a deeper connection to America and American culture.
IFP is a rewarding opportunity and a wonderful way to gain a greater understanding of another culture. By participating in this program you are helping to build ties between U.S. families and international families from all parts of the world.
The IFP is made possible by local community members who volunteer their time. How do you get connected? First, both the community member and student must complete a form stating they would like to participate. Then, we connect one community member with one or two international students who share similar interests.
For more information on how to participate in this program, contact the Office of International Programs at: international@uiu.edu or call 563-425-5251.
