The Upper Iowa Center at Fort Riley, KS, offers classes on post to both military personnel and civilians in the area. It was opened in 1992 and offers bachelor’s of science degrees in 11 majors. Courses can also be blended with UIU distance learning programs (online and independent study) to complete nine other majors. Certificate programs are also available. UIU offers courses on post during five eight-week terms during the academic year. All courses are offered during the evenings. Upper Iowa has been recognized by Military Advanced Education and by GI Jobs as one of the nation’s top military-friendly universities. Watch the Bulletin Board on this page for local postings.

Although the list is always subject to change, these majors are currently offered at the Fort Riley center: (descriptions of the majors)
- Business Administration

- Criminal Justice
- Human Resources Management
- Human Services

- Management Information Systems
- Psychology
- Public Administration (with optional certification in Fire Science or Law Enforcement)
- Social Science
Certificate programs are available in Human Resources Management and Organizational Leadership on post. Students can also combine distance learning courses to earn certificates in Marketing, and Organizational Communications.
The UIU Online Program also offers master's degree programs and many of the courses for an undergraduate degree plan. All UIU courses, regardless of how you take them, count toward completion of your degree.
Although the annual course schedule may be subject to change, the 2012-13 academic year includes the following terms:
- Term 1 (August 27 - October 21, 2012)
- Term 2 (October 22 - December 16, 2012)
- Term 3 (January 7 - March 3, 2013)
- Term 4 (March 4 - May 5, 2013)
- Term 5 (May 6 - June 30, 2013)
- Term 6 (July 1 - August 25, 2013)
Please see the Current Class Schedule and Booklist. The class schedule is relatively flexible to meet student needs. Classes normally meet twice a week, Monday/Wednesday and Tuesday/Thursday in the evenings.
