What is Distance Learning?
Upper Iowa is a nationally recognized leader in distance education offering undergraduate and graduate degrees. Students can study in our award-winning distance learning online program or our independent study program. Students have global access, with no need to be on campus for a residency requirement. We serve over 3,000 degree-seeking students from around the world through the Center for Distance Education.
Self-Paced Degree Program
A paper/email based program, allowing you to study no matter where you are. Internet access is not required. Students receive personalized attention through one-on-one interactions with instructors while enjoying the flexibility of studying at their own pace. Self-Paced Degree courses are offered in both paper and web formats and all courses can be completed at a distance - no on-campus attendance is required. The Self-Paced Paper format is structured around written assignments and proctored exams while the Self-Paced Web format offers a web-based platform for assignment submission and course completion. You may enroll in a Self-Paced Degree course at the beginning of each calendar month during the year.
A program that delivers courses via the Internet, bringing the classroom to your fingertips. These are asynchronous courses so you can attend class anytime during the day or night. You will actively and substantively participate in discussions on course topics that enhance your learning. The Online Program offers six eight-week terms each year so that you never need to wait more than two months to start classes.
