Admissions Process
Upper Iowa University’s RN to BSN Program utilizes both a hard copy application process as well as an online application submittal process. The application procedure for admission to the RN to BSN Program is as follows:
1. An application packet must be completed and can be submitted in the following ways:

2. You can begin your studies at the time that works best for you. Although we encourage students to start the program in the Fall Term, you’re not locked into only one entry point. Fall Term begins in August, Spring Term begins in January, and Summer Term begins in May.
3. Admission decisions will be made by the Director of Nursing Education and the Director of Admissions upon receipt of the following information:
- An RN license or verification of eligibility to obtain RN licensure (be sure you have completed this section on the application).
- Evidence of CPR certification (send us a copy of your current certification card).
- Evidence of meeting current health requirements (have the health form filled out and send it to us).
- Official transcript(s) from all colleges attended AND
- High school transcript.
- Completed application form.
- Completed background check
4. Notification of admission decision will be sent in writing to all applicants no later than seven (7) days upon receipt of completed application.
5. A non-refundable advance tuition deposit is required prior to registering for courses. This deposit can be submitted to:

Admission criteria
Program candidates must have:
- An RN license or be eligible for RN licensure
- Evidence of CPR certification
- Evidence of meeting current health requirements
- GPA of 2.5 or higher
- Background Check
Transfer credit
Upper Iowa University accepts transfer credit from accredited community colleges and four-year colleges and universities. Not all credits for coursework completed at other institutions may be eligible for acceptance; each student’s transcript will be evaluated on an individual basis.
