Upper Iowa University launches website to promote area businesses, communities
FAYETTE, Iowa (May 4, 2010—Upper Iowa University and its e-Center have launched a website to promote communities and businesses along the Upper Iowa Corridor from Oelwein on Highway 150 north to West Union to support economic development, pursue global marketing possibilities, and foster entrepreneurial ventures and business growth.
The new website at www.ecenteruiu.org/ includes corridor business listings, information about events in the area, and employment opportunities. In addition, the website features one area business each week, starting with A Touch of Elegance Floral, 140 S. Main St., Fayette.
The website for Touch of Elegance (www.touchofelegancefayette.com) was the first development project of the Heartlanding Information Technology Services Center (http://tinyurl.com/heartlanding). Heartlanding is the technology service arm of the UIU e-center and is operated by UIU students and faculty.
“It has been a pleasure working with Paula Schoonover, owner of Touch of Elegance, on her new website,” said Monte Graff, Heartlanding ITSC’s chief operating officer.. “The site truly reflects the personality and vivacity of her unique shop. We hope that for years to come she will enjoy the benefits of opening her doors to the world with her new internet presence.”
Heartlanding ITSC not only creates websites but also provides information technology services including security consulting and implementation, network consulting and implementation, software training, IT research, IT project management, and social media implementation, Graff said.
“With the completion of this project, Heartlanding has embarked on the UIU e-Center mission of assisting small businesses in Northeast Iowa with their information technology needs,” said Andrew Wenthe, vice president for external affairs.. “We look forward to enhancing and adding features to the Upper Iowa Corridor website as we work with more area businesses and communities.”
