Sarah Foster is the new
director of the UIU Education
Center in Wausau, Wis.
FAYETTE, Iowa (July 22, 2011) — Upper Iowa University has named Sarah Foster as director of the UIU Education Center in Wausau, Wis.
Foster has more than 25 years of experience in administrative leadership, organizational development and communication. Most recently, she was assistant director of admissions operations for the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point (UWSP). Previously she was administrative director at the Wisconsin Institute for Peace and Conflict Studies and program assistant advanced-confidential for the Office of Business Affairs, both at the Stevens Point Campus. Before joining UWSP in 2001, she was a copywriter for four years with Wizard Communications (WIZD-FM) in Plover, WI. Foster earned both her bachelor’s degree and her master’s degree in communications at UWSP.
“Sarah is uniquely qualified to lead the Wausau Center in its mission to serve adult learners in the Wausau area,” said Fritz Oppenlander, UIU executive director of the North Central Region, which includes the Wausau location. “Sarah not only brings years of administrative experience to the position; but, as a non-traditional student herself who completed her master’s degree while balancing her career and other responsibilities, she is well attuned to the needs of students who are working on their degrees at Upper Iowa University’s education centers.”
The UIU Center in Wausau, which serves more than 200 students annually, has been open since 1992 and offers six educational programs, including business, criminal justice, health services administration, human services, public administration and technology. Students in the human services major have the option of pursuing Wisconsin’s social work training certificate; and students majoring in public administration may select from an emphasis in fire science or law enforcement. Classes are offered in eight-week terms, with daytime, evening and weekend courses. The Center is located in Room A222 on the campus of Northcentral Technical College at 1000 W. Campus Drive.
