Leader of LGBT advocacy group to speak at Upper Iowa University

FAYETTE, Iowa (November 7, 2011) – Troy Price, executive director of One Iowa, an advocacy group working to ensure equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) Iowans, will speak at Upper Iowa University at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, November 9,in the UIU Student Center Ballroom.
Price will share his experiences, speak about his work on behalf of LGBT rights and other related issues.
A native of Durant, Iowa, Price is a graduate of the University of Iowa with a degree in political science. In 2001, at the age of 20, he joined the staff of Gov. Tom Vilsack and Lt. Gov. Sally Pederson, and helped in their successful re-election effort. He then held positions in the Department of Public Health and Economic Development. Price rejoined the Vilsack/Pederson Administration in 2006 as a communication assistant. A year later, he joined the staff of Gov. Chet Culver and Lt. Gov. Patty Judge as a senior communication specialist. In 2008, Price was the interim communications director, where he assisted the state's communications efforts in response to the 2008 flooding, the worst natural disaster in Iowa history. He joined the staff of One Iowa in 2010.
