UIU signs transfer agreement with Maricopa Community Colleges
FAYETTE, Iowa (December 13, 2012) — Upper Iowa University, which recently opened the UIU-Mesa education center (www.uiu.edu/mesa), has signed a transfer student agreement with the Maricopa Community Colleges, making it simpler for students to complete a bachelor's degree program at UIU.
According to the agreement, all applicable associate degrees successfully completed at any of the colleges within the Maricopa Community College system will be able to transfer to Upper Iowa University and certain coursework taken at any Maricopa college also will transfer easily to UIU.
At UIU-Mesa, students can pick from majors in Elementary Education; Nursing - RN to BSN; Business (accounting, business administration, human resources management, and management); Criminal Justice; Human Services; Psychology; Public Administration (general, law enforcement or fire science emphasis areas); and Social Science.
UIU has a unique academic calendar that offers classes in six eight-week terms year-round with rolling admissions. UIU can help students access financial aid for which they are eligible, and some UIU scholarships will be offered to assist at-risk Mesa students.
"The Maricopa Community Colleges are committed to providing a variety of transfer opportunities to students who want to pursue a four-year degree," said Maricopa Chancellor Rufus Glasper. "We are happy to work with Upper Iowa University to further this objective and to provide another way to help our students reach their goals."
"Our goal is to help all students access an affordable degree program at Upper Iowa University," said UIU Acting President Dr. Richard Patrick. "We are committed to partnerships like this to help us serve the educational needs of students. We look forward to working closely with MCC students."
