UIU Saturday art program for kids is back!
FAYETTE, IOWA (January 6, 2012) — Once again, the Upper Iowa University Art Department is offering Saturday art classes to Fayette County elementary students during the cold months of January and February.
"This program brings out a lot of artistic creativity in a fun learning environment for the Fayette County area elementary students and is also beneficial to our students studying art education," said UIU Art Professor John Siblik. "As in past sessions, the UIU art education majors will prepare a complete curriculum unit for the children who sign up for our 2012 Saturday Art Program."
The Saturday Art Program will be held in the Edgar Fine Arts Building on the Upper Iowa University Fayette campus and is open to all Fayette County elementary children (Grades 1–6). Sessions are one-hour long, beginning at 1:00 p.m. and ending at 2:00 p.m., with Grades 1-3 meeting in Room 308 and Grades 4-6 in Room 302 on the following Saturdays: Jan. 21, Jan. 28, Feb. 4, and Feb. 11.

Note, the children will be working with a variety of materials—drawing, painting, printmaking, and clay—and some materials are messy, so they are encouraged to wear old clothes or art shirts.
