Upper Iowa University wrestling team receives accolades from The Predicament, a news source that has been covering wrestling in Iowa since 1970. In an article by Matt Levins, dated January 3, 2012, he states:
“Everyone knows about the exploits of the University of Iowa and Iowa State University wrestling teams through the years at the NCAA Division I level.”
“And the accomplishments of Wartburg College and now Coe College at the NCAA Division III level are legendary.”
“Iowa Central Community College has been a powerhouse at the NJCAA level in the last decade.”
“What a lot of wrestling fans don’t realize is that there is another giant in the making in the state, this one at the NCAA Division II level. Upper Iowa University, tucked away in the far northeast corner of the state in a town with a population of 1,338 in the latest survey, is quietly becoming a giant on the mat.”
