Upper Iowa University elects student government officers

FAYETTE, IOWA (June 29, 2012) -- Upper Iowa University students recently elected the following Student Government Association (SGA) officers for the 2012-2013 academic year:
- President: Timothy Rueb, Stillwater, Minn.
- Vice President: Amanda Millard, Madison, Wis.
- Academic Extension Officer: Matthew Beatty, Colesburg, Iowa
- Treasurer: Kaitlyn Emanuel, Byron, Minn.
- Secretary: Daphne Barness, Ossian, Iowa
The new officers represent all UIU academic units including the Andres School of Education and the Divisions of Business, Math and Science, and Liberal Arts.
SGA President Timothy Rueb expressed his excitement about serving the University, saying "I believe in UIU, and I want to watch it grow. I want to be there for every step."
New officers represent the student body to faculty and administration, and they help voice student opinions and concerns. SGA leadership also works on service projects, sits on University committees, and is represented on the UIU Board of Trustees.
