Eight Upper Iowa University art and graphic design students have had work selected to appear in the third annual ArtHaus Emerging Artists' Exhibition running April 5-26 at the ArtHaus and ArtHaus Studio galleries in Decorah, Iowa. Upper Iowa University art students represented in the exhibit include Dylan Langerman-Aten from Fayette, Iowa; Daphne Barness from Ossian, Iowa; Lesley Codd from Belize City, Belize; Jake Nelson from Ladysmith, Wis.; Joslyn Oneal from DeSoto, Wis.; Troy Parker from Orange, Australia; Janelle Pearson from Vernon Hills, Ill.; and Jennah Smith from Cedar Falls, Iowa.
A total of 87 entries came from students in three states (Iowa, Wisconsin, and Minnesota), including eight different colleges and universities as well as those working outside of school. Media includes sculpture, pottery, photography, painting, drawing, printmaking and mixed media works. Artworks were chosen on the basis of technical ability, clarity and concept, maturity, formal qualities and the presentation of images.
The 2013 Emerging Artists Exhibition opens with reception Friday, April 5, from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Best in show, runner up and honorable mention awards will be announced at that time. The show will remain up through April 26. ArtHaus is located at 508 West Water Street in Decorah.
