UIU FACULTY MEMBERS ATTEND IACTE DAY AT THE CAPITOL. On Feb. 12, representatives of the Iowa Association of Colleges for Teacher Education visited the Statehouse. Upper Iowa University and University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls, Iowa, faculty members joined Senator Brian Schoenjahn in the Senate Chamber. AQIP SYSTEMS PORTFOLIO DUE JUNE 1. The original Systems Portfolio was authored by a group of writing teams over the summer of 2009. This time around, the AQIP Steering Committee ("ASC") has been diligently working behind the scenes on the updates; however, it will not possible to capture all of the processes, results, and improvement data necessary without the collective help of faculty and staff. ONLINE PROGRAMS RANKED BY U.S. NEWS & WORLD REPORT. The online undergraduate and master's in business administration (MBA) programs at Upper Iowa University have been cited in the U.S. News & World Report "2013 Best Online Education Programs," which was released on its website January 15. Read more

DR. OLIVER EVANS JOINS UIU AS INTERIM CHIEF ACADEMIC OFFICER, SVP. Oliver Evans, Ph.D., was recently hired as Upper Iowa University's interim chief academic officer and senior vice president. Dr. Evans is a peer reviewer for The Higher Learning Commission (HLC), where he has chaired more than 30 site visits, is a member of the training corps for consultant evaluators and team chairs, and conducts specialized training for college presidents. DAWN NOVAK NAMED INTERIM EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF IEC. Previously, Novak served as the enrollment services integration coordinator and reviewed, assessed and created new procedures for operations. Read more
CHRIS RHYNERSON NAMED ASSOCIATE VICE PRESIDENT OF FINANCE effective December 3, 2012. He comes to Upper Iowa with a long-standing track record of successful leadership in the academic and administrative areas of both public and private institutions. Read more
TRAVIS HUNT '08 BECOMES ACADEMIC EXTENSION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST. Located at the Cedar Rapids Center, Hunt is responsible for coordinating and supporting the technology requirements at the academic extension centers. During his five years of work in Fayette and various AE centers, he has been the lead for multiple projects, including an institution-wide PC hardware rotation plan. Hunt is currently finishing his master's in higher education administration at UIU.
ADMISSIONS OFFICE HIRES NEW DIRECTOR, NAMES ASSOCIATE DIRECTORS. Storm Schmitt was recently hired as the executive director of Admissions, and will direct campus recruiting efforts, with a primary emphasis on coaching, training, mentoring, motivating and supervising admissions counselors. Schmitt was a freshman admissions counselor for three years at UIU and is also a UIU graduate (BA '09, MBA '12). Matt Huber and Seth Miner were selected to serve as associate directors of Admissions. They will work with Schmitt and the VP for External Affairs to develop a comprehensive recruitment plan.
