"The professors at Upper Iowa University’s Andres School of Education made it possible for me to fulfill my dream of becoming an educator. This group of professors have challenged my thinking and prepared me for the work field. I have always known that I wanted to help students at the secondary level of education prior to coming to Upper Iowa. Even though I love working with children at the younger age levels, I feel that secondary education is the last opportunity to make a difference in the lives of young adults before they head out into life after school. I feel my endorsement in secondary reading has allowed me to stay focused on my mission of making sure students leave school with the skills to survive in society at what ever level they may be heading into. Because of this program I have mastered strategies that will improve students' fluency, comprehension and overall reading skills. I am both excited and blessed to now apply my education teaching in the North Fayette Valley School district, where I will continue to work to be an advocate for the next generation and challenge students to be all that they can be. I cannot thank the Upper Iowa professors of education enough for the experiences I have gained in this program! "
