"Upper Iowa University exposed me to the possibilities for an environmental science major and gave me the opportunity to work one summer with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources to conduct water quality tests. That experience and my solid foundation from UIU made me a much better candidate for my master's program at the University of Wyoming. Now I'm part of Earthview Environmental in Coralville where we are having a positive impact on wetland restoration, which is critical to the Iowa environment. Saving wetlands would reduce flooding and improve water quality. All of this because I wanted to work outdoors, and UIU helped me find my passion."

chemistry, physics, biology, and earth sciences, the Environmental Science major provides flexibility for students as they prepare for a wide range of opportunities including employment in fields such as environmental education, monitoring, management, remediation, or regulation. The major can be individualized as preparation for professional training in law, business or public health, or further study at the graduate level.
