Your career is always a work in progress and in perpetual motion. The goal of the UIU Office of Career Development is to help you keep moving in the right direction toward a successful career and future. The Office of Career Development will assist all students / alumni with resume and cover letter reviews, internship leads, interview skills, mock interviews, graduate school information and general job search questions / skills. These services are provided to current students and alumni free of charge.
Office of Career Development Mission Statement
Career Development will prepare students for a lifetime of career development by teaching students how to search for jobs, so they may do so at any time during their working career. We will encourage students to:
- Accept responsibility for their own career needs and direction.
- Gain familiarity with the world of work.
- Pursue professional and career goals with both an ethical approach and self-knowledge.
- Learn to adapt to and thrive in an ever-changing job market.
- Utilize technology.

- NACELink/Peacock Career Network
- This site allows students to upload their resumes and be placed in resume books which are searchable by employers. Students / alumni will find positions posted from around the country and the world.
- Job search sites
- This page lists a variety of job search websites with general information as well as career specific sites.
- NACE Salary Calculator
- Salary data to assist your salary search and career planning
- Career Spots Videos
- There are 20 career related 3-minute videos for students / alumni to view covering a wide range of topics.
- The Big Guide Online To Living And Working Overseas
- You will create an account using your UIU email address, which will give you access to information about countries around the world and their job search expectations / requirements.
- UIU Senior Packet
- General job search information regarding resumes and cover letters, networking, job search tip sheets and more.
- What Can I Do With This Major?
- The areas and websites in this program are representative of typical career paths associated with each major and not a comprehensive list. Explore multiple majors to learn about a wide range of career opportunities.
- FOCUS online assessment tool
- This program will help you assess your values, interests and experience at this point in your life. You will be able to compare career options and find additional information. This program is password protected. Please contact careers@uiu.edu to request access.
- Optimal Resume
- o This program is designed to assist students / alumni in finding the right words to best represent themselves in their job search. The individual will build a resume and be able to save it, upload it for a job search and send it to an employer.
- Perfect Interview
- This program allows individuals to choose a set of questions they would like to practice in preparation for upcoming interviews. There are questions sets for inexperienced through experienced employees. The interview may be recorded if the individual has a webcam and may be reviewed by a professor or the Office of Career Development.
