I was born in Jefferson, Iowa, August 4th, 1928. Graduated from Jefferson High School with the World Famous Class of 1946.
After two years in the U. S. Navy as an ETM 3, I attended the University of Iowa and graduated mid-year '53. Married Betsy Crusinberry from Des Moines in 1955. Our three children are natives of Missouri, Iowa, and California. Four grandchildren; Rachel, a recent graduate of California State University Chico; Daniel, a junior at CSU San Diego; Kelia, a junior at Walsenburg High School in Colorado; and Jameson, a middle schooler in West Union, Iowa.
I retired from a career which started with mechanical accounting machines, then progressed to mainframe computers, and ended with desktops. What changes! Still into water and snow skiing, and Betsy and I have enjoyed auto and plane trips to the right coast, Canada, Texas, Iowa, and points between.
A good friend, George Neshiem (JHS Class of '43) rode RAGBRAI a couple of times with Nesheim family members as Team George. George passed away in 2005, shortly after he and his wife Joanna had visited us in Redding, so my 2007 ride was dedicated to George. By coincidence, the first day of the 2007 ride went through the town of George!
This 2008 ride is dedicated to the members of the JHS Class of '46 who are no longer with us.
