Ray Zeran

My name is Ray Zeran, I am a '95 graduate of Upper Iowa University with a degree in Physical Education. As a member of the football team, I also served as Resident Assistant. I now live in Minneapolis, MN with my wife and two children. As a Licensed Electrician I have been pursuing certifications in Solar and Wind installations. This will be my second RAGBRAI with team Peacock. My experiences at Upper Iowa University were so life changing to me that I feel the great need to "pay it forward." Being from a blue collar family, I was the only one to go to college. I learned so much more than just class room study. As a member of the football team, Coach always made us wear a tie on road trips. This was the first time I ever put on and tied my own tie. Upper Iowa has a staff and faculty that are open and willing to help. UIU staff and faculty come to work everyday knowing that they are there to help young minds grow and develop. They come to work with a can do, will do attitude. There are no harder working, driven to succeed people than of UIU staff and faculty. For that I owe a debt of gratitude. Upper Iowa University is truly a University on the rise.

As we train for RAGBRAI, there are many Peacocks out there that would like to help. You give a gift and we will ride. We are in economic uncertain times and that may keep you from giving. One thing is certain, if you give a gift you will make a difference. I remember what it is like to come out of college with a student loan. Helping the next generation of student coming out of school is paramount. It is even more needed in tough economic times. When the going gets tough the tough start giving. We all aren't ceo's or own a big company and have plenty to give. Most of us get by on what we have. We are the ones that can make that biggest difference. If each person gives just a little, we can make a huge difference. I urge you to give a gift and keep Upper Iowa University on the rise.

Make your gift online using your credit card by completing our secure form on myUIU, UIU's campus portal system. Note: UIU accepts Discover, MasterCard and Visa for credit card payments.

Online gift and pledge process:

1. Go to the Alumni page of the myUIU campus portal system. (page opens in new window)
2. Follow the "Give a Gift or Pledge" link on the right-side of the Alumni page.
3. Enter your personal information, and click "Continue."
4. From the "General Scholarship Funds" drop-down menu, select "Team Peacock scholarships." Click "Make a Gift" or "Make a Pledge."
5. From the "Designations" drop-down menu, select a Team Peacock rider. Enter the amount of your gift or pledge and pledge details. Click "Continue."
6. Review your gift or pledge. Click "Confirm & Submit."
7. If you made a pledge, you are finished. If you made a gift, you now will be asked for your payment information. Click "Continue" on the "Payment Method" to go to the secure form to enter your credit card details
8. Enter your credit card details on the "Enter Payment Information" page. Click "Continue."
9. Review your gift and credit card details on the "Verify Payment Information" page. Click "Continue."
10. You are now finished. Thank you for your gift.
