Dr. Joseph Elarde earned his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from DePaul University, a M.B.A. degree from Northern Illinois University in Management Information Systems, and a Bachelors degree from Northeastern Illinois University.
Dr. Elarde joined Upper Iowa University to help implement and expand Upper Iowa’s Information Technology program, transitioning from a large fortune 100 corporation where he held positions in Information Technology as a software systems consultant, educator, and project leader. As an educator, Dr. Elarde taught Information Technology courses to business professionals, and introductory courses in computers and programming at Oakton Community College.
Information Technology offers many rewarding career paths, but Dr. Elarde’s passions are teaching and technology. Facilitating the educational connection between a student and a technology related subject while providing an inspirational and motivational message is the ultimate in career satisfaction.
His research interests include computer performance measurement and analysis, parallel programming, pervasive computing, network security, Information Technology management, using computers to help the disabled, and legacy system migration.
