Dr. Steven R. Stein received his Ph.D. in Psychology at the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 1977.  He received his undergraduate and master’s psychology degree at City College of New York.  Dr. Stein has taught undergraduate psychology courses at Upper Iowa University’s Madison Center since 2001.  He was appointed Assistant Professor of Psychology and Lead Faculty in January 2008.

Dr. Stein is a licensed psychologist who has practiced in the Madison, Wisconsin area for the past 35 years. He has worked with a wide range of psychological and psychiatric disorders utilizing eclectic and evidenced based approaches.  His interest in the body-mind connection has led to numerous presentations locally and internationally. As an experienced practitioner, supervisor, and clinical director, he has advocated for better mental health awareness.   Dr. Stein also created the NorthStar Day Hospital for Adolescents, which treats severely mentally ill children in Dane County. 

Office hours are Monday and Wednesday from 12:00P.M. to 6:00P.M. or by appointment.  Dr. Stein is generously available to all psychology majors at the Upper Iowa University throughout  the different sites for consultation and advice by phone or e-mail.
