Over 1,200 will graduate from Upper Iowa University in 2006
Two commencement ceremonies are planned for May 6 on Fayette campus
FAYETTE, IOWA (April 19, 2006) -- Upper Iowa University’s commencement exercises will be held on Saturday, May 6 in Dorman Memorial Gymnasium on the Fayette campus. Twenty-six students planning to attend Saturday’s commencement ceremonies will receive Master of Business or Public Administration degrees, and 547 students will receive Bachelor of Arts or Science degrees on that day.
Upper Iowa will hold commencement exercises for the divisions of business and public administration graduates at 10 a.m. and for the divisions of education, liberal arts and science and mathematics graduates at 1:30 p.m. Both morning refreshments and a luncheon buffet will be available for graduates and their families for purchase in the Garbee Hall Cafeteria, beginning at 8:30 a.m.
Student speakers Lindy Tommasin from Fayette campus and Robert Wentz from Elkhorn campus will give the commencement address to the morning graduates. Student speaker Angela Stone from Blackhawk campus will join Tommasin in giving the commencement address to the afternoon graduates.
Upper Iowa University has been graduating students for the past 149 years, with some 44 percent remaining in Iowa to live and work. Plans are currently underway for UIU’s 150th anniversary celebration in 2007.
