Upper Iowa University finance students receive honorable recognition

Des Moines, Iowa (May 3, 2006) – Upper Iowa University students Mistie Holaday and Leann Nemitz were recently honored as outstanding seniors in accounting and finance at the Iowa Chapter Meeting of Financial Executives International (FEI). Nemitz was selected from UIU’s Des Moines campus and Holaday was selected from the Fayette campus.

The Iowa Chapter of FEI consists of members from leading companies, providing a forum for senior financial executives to meet a range of people and share solutions to crucial issues that confront them daily. At this meeting, students and faculty from area colleges and universities have the opportunity to network with Iowa business leaders.

Holaday and Nemitz both received a cash stipend and recognition from business leaders in the community. “It was a great opportunity to meet and talk to the top executives from companies around Iowa,” stated Holaday. “I feel it will be a great addition to my resume and, hopefully, open some doors for me when it comes to applying for jobs.”

Holaday is a senior from Atlantic, Iowa, double majoring in Marketing and Financial Management. Nemitz is a senior from Denison, Iowa, majoring in Finance, while employed at Allied in Des Moines.

Also in attendance at the event was Dr. Mohammad Farooq, UIU professor, Karin Dunn, UIU Des Moines area coordinator and Teri Walker, UIU academic advisor. Other participating Iowa institutions included Drake, Grandview, Iowa State, Simpson, UNI and William Penn.
