UIU hires former Fortune 500 employee as new Vice President of Marketing and Communications

Fayette (February 17, 2006) — Upper Iowa University (UIU) has selected their new Associate Vice President of Marketing & Communications, Ms. Fedelina Madrid.

Ms. Madrid comes to Upper Iowa University with over 15 years of Fortune 500 marketing and communications experience. As Vice President for Marketing & Communications, Ms. Madrid will oversee the University communications, including public relations, web services, marketing, branding, and external-community relationship building.

When interviewed recently by the UIU student newspaper, Ms. Madrid said that she had accepted the position because she believes that education is the great equalizer, because it is available to anyone who is willing to put forth the effort. She went on to say that as a Mexican-American woman, growing up in an under-served community, made education a very important part of her life, and it is a gift that will last for a lifetime. Being able to tell others about UIU is a great opportunity for Ms. Madrid to put her passion, personal experience and work together to reach others with the message of education and its many benefits.
