A blind child is inspiration for Upper Iowa University student’s art work

Fayette, Iowa (March 27, 2006) — Upper Iowa University senior Victoria Hinds has prepared a unique art exhibit entitled “A Tight Weave.” The display is a family portrait in appliqué panels and is currently on view now through May 6 in the library on the Fayette campus.

Taken from a true story, Hinds’ work depicts the life of a young family as seen through the eyes of their child, who is blind. The child is the inspiration for the tactile drawings in fibers that can be seen and felt, allowing the audience to view the world in a new way.

The Henderson-Wilder library is located on the corner of Washington and Madison on the Upper Iowa University campus in Fayette. Library hours can be found on the website at www.uiu.edu.
