Upper Iowa University sorority helps KUNI Public Radio exceed fundraising goal

Fayette, Iowa (April 10, 2006) — Upper Iowa University students demonstrated their dedication to community service on Saturday by volunteering for KUNI Public Radio’s spring on-air fund drive. The participating students are members of Phi Beta Delta, a UIU social-service sorority.

Sorority members who volunteered included Sara Gee, Cologne, Minn.; Alicia Ganatta, Mammoth Lakes, Calif.; Kari Hannah, Grinnell, Iowa; and Beth Meier, Cascade, Iowa.

Three UIU professors, Lynn Isvik, Don McComb and Doug McReynolds, also worked the phones.  According to McReynolds, “All in all, UIU helped Garrison Keillor's ‘Prairie Home Companion’ and Bob Dorr's ‘Back Tracks’ reach their program goals.”  He added, “In fact, ‘Back Tracks’ set a new program record for money raised--over $3,000 on the first Saturday of the spring fundraiser and over $4,000 this past Saturday night when we were taking the calls.
